Top honors for Qingpu drone team at national competition
The drone team from Qingpu District Science and Technology Museum excelled at the 2025 China Aerospace Science Popularization Conference and the 9th Educational Drone Event in southwest China's Chongqing City in August.
It earned 28 national awards, including a first-place prize.
This was Qingpu's best-ever result in the youth science and technology competition, demonstrating the district's successful youth education.
After provincial and municipal selection, 17,000 outstanding students from nearly 6,000 schools competed in multiple events at the 30,000-square-meter competition venue.
The Qingpu team competed in individual flight, programming, and relay flight events.
In the individual flight competition, primary school student Li Yixing won first place out of 1,600 competitors with his precise control skills.
Qingpu's students showed their artificial intelligence innovation in the programming challenge with self-developed obstacle avoidance algorithms and creative task solutions.
Since 2021, the Qingpu District Science and Technology Museum has offered courses on drone science and established a training system that includes theoretical learning, simulation training and competition preparation.
The courses cover professional knowledge such as aerodynamics, flight principles and basic programming.
