Inside Zhang Yuan's Bonded Jewelry Showcase at CIIE 2025
Shanghai's historic Zhang Yuan is redefining the intersection of heritage and innovation. The landmark has introduced China's first bonded warehouse located within a heritage building in the heart of Shanghai – a move that marks a milestone in the integration of culture and commerce.
The project pioneers the "Bonded+" model, combining the advantages of bonded trade with the appeal of cultural and artistic spaces. This innovative approach establishes a new platform for international brands entering China, while also demonstrating Shanghai's leadership in cultural urban renewal.
At the CIIE exhibition, Zhang Yuan presented an impressive lineup of high-end jewelry houses, from Milan's Utopia and Munich's Capolavoro to Mattioli, honored as "Turin's First Goldsmith," and Russo Cammei, representing Southern Italy's traditional cameo craftsmanship. The showcase reflected a meeting of global artistry and refined craftsmanship, merging European luxury heritage with Shanghai's creative energy.
Beyond its display of fine jewelry, the exhibition underscored Zhang Yuan's ambition to become a hub for flagship stores, world premieres, and debut showcases. It represents a model where cultural heritage drives innovation, contributing to the district's ongoing transformation into a center of contemporary lifestyle and international exchange.
Through initiatives like the bonded warehouse, Zhang Yuan continues to set a benchmark for blending preservation with progress, reaffirming Shanghai's position as a city where tradition and modernity coexist – and where culture continues to inspire new forms of economic growth.
