The Bite Art Fair is cooking up something special in Jing'an District this month. Taking over the fourth floor of 889 Square from July 25 to 27, the event will turn everyday meals into a playful and poetic artistic experience.
With a theme that fuses creativity and cuisine, the fair invites visitors to explore how food can be not only consumed but also imagined, crafted and expressed.
From handmade goods and visual installations to edible metaphors and tactile workshops, Bite Art Fair is part market, part gallery, part community table. The art market brings together over a dozen brands blending craft, humor, memory and sustainability – think soft textiles from huwa huwa, engraved Bai ethnic group's Jiama charms from Eerguna Shop, accessories from NaC1, and cultural and creative products with poetic visuals from GUo-, among others.
The exhibition section offers intimate reflections on food and memory: a photo series set in a grandmother's room, snapshots from a French countryside summer, and whimsical Chinese snacks recreated entirely from non-woven fabric.
Interactive workshops allow visitors to join the creative process, from chair-inspired art sessions to foil photo frame making and everyday object reinterpretation. Meanwhile, an open stage hosts talks, performances and open mic segments that spotlight the voices behind the craft.
