Spanish trumpeter and vocalist Antonio Ximenez Lopez will team up with guitarist Scoot Denison and bassist Brian Hurley for a night dedicated to jazz master Chet Baker. This trio performance will bring Baker's masterpieces back to life and provide a feast for the ears of local cool jazz lovers.
As an American jazz icon known for his unique trumpet and vocal style, Chet Baker helped shape the aesthetic of West Coast Cool Jazz in the 1950s alongside legends like Miles Davis and Gerry Mulligan.
From the tender "My Funny Valentine" to the melodic "Funk in Deep Freeze"; from the poetic "Autumn Leaves" to the improvisational "Solar," the track list that will be performed covers Baker's representative work ranging from his Pacific Jazz Records to his later recordings in Europe, with each song carrying memories of cool jazz.
This tribute is not just a concert, but a conversation between past and present. For cool jazz fans, this is the night you've been waiting for to brush up on Chet Baker's classics.
