The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau issued a yellow lightning alert at 2:58am and a blue rainstorm alert at 4:20am on Friday. In response, the city has activated a Level IV flood and typhoon emergency response.

Rainfall is forecast to be heaviest during two key periods: 5am to 9am and 3pm to 6pm, coinciding with rush hours. Some areas may see hourly rainfall of 20-30 millimeters, leading to localized flooding. Residents are urged to stay alert and plan their commute/travel accordingly.
Winds are also picking up, with easterly to southeasterly gusts of up to Level 6 on Friday morning, shifting to northerly by afternoon. Gusts along coastal and riverside areas may reach Level 7. Secure loose objects and avoid staying near temporary structures or billboards.
Due to the rain and wind, temperatures will remain low, between 20 and 23 degrees Celsius.

Looking ahead, the rain will ease on Saturday, though light showers and strong winds may linger. Sunday will be sunny and pleasant, with weekend temperatures ranging from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius. Another round of rain is expected in the middle of next week as a new weather system moves in.
Southern China will continue to experience widespread heavy rain until Saturday, with risks of landslides and flash floods in areas such as Guangxi, Guangdong, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Anhui and Jiangxi. Residents in high-risk zones are advised to avoid mountainous and river valley areas and stay updated on local warnings.
