Shanghai Museum extends night hours for popular exhibition

One of the exhibits: Raphael, The Garvagh Madonna (about 15010–11).

Starting March 28, the Shanghai Museum will open on Sunday nights, in addition to its regular night schedule on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Also, during the last week of the exhibition "Botticelli to Van Gogh: Masterpieces from the National Gallery," from May 1 to 7, the museum will be open at night every day.

This is to meet the demands of visitors who are eager to see the exhibition, which has been drawing large crowds since its opening on January 17. In the daytime, the opening hours will also be extended by an hour.

According to the Shanghai Museum, the exhibition has been immensely popular, with tickets sold out well in advance, and a peak in visitor numbers is expected in the following period.

The museum reminds visitors to book their tickets as early as possible. The opening hours for the night are from 6pm to 9pm, and no entry will be allowed after 8pm. Each session has a limit of 3,000 visitors, with 1,500 visitors for the National Gallery exhibition and another 1,500 visitors for permanent exhibits. During the night openings, the first and second floors will be open, including the Chinese Ancient Bronze and Chinese Ancient Ceramics galleries.

On regular days from March 28 to May 7, the National Gallery exhibition will be open from 9am to 6pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays with the last entry at 5pm. The permanent exhibits will have the same opening hours as before, and a new entry period from 4:15pm to 5pm with 500 additional visitors will be added.
