A children's amusement park, featuring some of China's most beloved cartoon characters, including the Monkey King, Black Cat Sheriff, and the Seven Brothers Gourd, opened in Shanghai recently.

This unique attraction, known as Popome Amusement Park, is a first of its kind in the country that focuses on the classic productions of the Shanghai Animation Film Studio. It officially welcomed visitors on June 1 at Global Harbor, a landmark retail complex in downtown Putuo District.

Spanning an area of approximately 3,000 square meters, the park is divided into 10 themed sections, each dedicated to a well-known cartoon character. These include the Monkey King, Nezha, Black Cat Sheriff, Seven Brothers Gourd, Effendi, Snow Kid, and the Nine-Color Deer, with over 40 immersive scenes in total.

At the heart of the park stands the iconic Monkey King and his legendary weapon, the "Golden Cudgel." Around are some other famous settings from the animation film "The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven," such as the Hall of Miraculous Mist, the Southern Gate of Heaven and the Alchemy Furnace. These classic scenes, which have captivated generations of Chinese children, bring the charm of Chinese mythology vividly to life for visitors.

One of the park's major highlights is the two-story Monkey King section, which meticulously recreates the Heavenly Palace, the Dragon's Palace under the sea, and other key settings from the iconic 1960s animation film. Here, children and their parents can immerse themselves in a world of fantasy and adventure.

The park offers a wide range of activities for families. Visitors can engage in interactive games, watch classic cartoon movies, celebrate special occasions with themed parties, enjoy captivating theme performance shows, and even unwind in a designated reading corner with picture books.
