Shanghai has introduced a brand-new one-stop online mail item processing platform that allows individuals to complete customs clearance quickly and easily – right from their mobile phone or computer. No paperwork, no in-person visits – just a few simple steps and your package is ready to go.

This service is available for both incoming and outgoing international mail items and significantly simplifies the declaration and clearance process for personal shipments.

What you can do on the platform

The platform allows individuals to:

• Check the customs clearance status of international mail items;
• Submit supplementary declaration materials for inbound mail items;
• Pay applicable taxes securely online;
• Apply for tax review or return shipment if needed;
• Access customs policy guidance for mailed goods.

No additional service charges are required when using the platform.

Things to know before you use the platform

1. The platform currently supports viewing only the mail items linked to the mobile number used to log in. Please ensure that the correct recipient phone number was provided when the item was sent. If there is an error, contact the postal service for assistance.

2. To track a mail item, simply enter the tracking number and verification code. At this time, the platform supports tracking for mail processed within the past year.

3. Functions such as "Supplementary Declaration" and "Tax Review" require multiple sections to be completed. Please fill in all information under the following sections – "Declarant Information," "Item Details" and "Supporting Documents" – before submitting your application.

4. To stay updated on the progress of your customs procedures, you can enable automatic notifications within the app. Mail status updates will be sent to you in real time via subscribed messages.

Shanghai is one of the national hubs for international postal exchange. In the first half of this year alone, the city processed over 1.87 million international mail items, including 287,200 inbound parcels. The new one-stop platform is part of a broader initiative led by China's General Administration of Customs to enhance customs facilitation nationwide.
