The 2025 Shanghai Future Star Cup concluded on Aug 3 at the Shanghai Pudong Football Stadium, with Brazil's Fluminense defeating Portugal's Benfica 2-0 in the final to claim the championship.

This year's U16 tournament brought together eight elite teams from Asia, Europe, and the Americas. After the group and knockout stages, Fluminense and Benfica advanced to the final. Fluminense scored once in each half to secure the victory.

More than 10,000 spectators attended the final, prompting organizers to open additional seating to accommodate the crowd.

Beyond the matches, participating players joined local activities, including watching a Chinese Super League match, visiting the Shanghai Masters snooker tournament, and engaging in friendly matches with Shanghai's blind football team and community groups at Expo Huangpu Sports Park.

The teams also took part in a cruise tour along the Huangpu River.

A coaches' roundtable was held during the event, with representatives from clubs such as Fluminense, Marseille, and RB Leipzig sharing youth development practices with local sports officials.

The tournament, launched in 2022, has hosted nearly 20 international youth teams, including Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Manchester City, and Chelsea. This year marked the fourth edition.

Organizers introduced citywide discounts on shopping, dining, and tourism for ticket holders, aiming to link sports events with urban engagement.
