Life has given Chen Zifang challenges that most people can hardly imagine, but he has overcome them with great determination, using only his feet.
Because Chen, 29, was born without arms, Xinhua news agency reported.
And just nine months after his birth, his father, a farmer in Enshi in central China's Hubei Province, died.
But his mother, Lu Dongyue, didn't sink into despair. She never gave up on her son, always encouraging him.
Chen Zifang learned to do everything for himself, even work on the farm, using only his feet.
Chen gradually learned how to eat, wash his face, write and get dressed using his feet. Later, he could even help his mother on the farm.
In 2016, he launched an online shop to sell local specialties which defied his expectations and achieved great success.
Last year, the shop had sales worth nearly 1.2 million yuan (US$173,178) and made a net profit of around 60,000 yuan.
In May this year, Chen was honored as a model worker of Hubei Province.
However, the sudden illness of his mother shattered their comfortable existence.
The 68-year-old suffered a stroke on October 9 and had to be hospitalized. Since then, Chen has borne the responsibility of looking after his mother.
Chen stayed with his mother throughout her hospital stay after she suffered a stroke.
He feds her and combed her hair, taking good care of her at hospital, all with his feet.
Only when his mother fell asleep, could he turn to his online business.
"Difficulty is not terrible. What's really terrible is not having a strong heart," Chen wrote on his WeChat.
His mother was allowed home on October 24 but still needs a year of convalescence.
Chen said his first priority was to take good care of his mother and make sure she did not do too much work, while at the same time running his online business.
