The St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Nikolay Alexeev, performed the Chinese folk song "Jasmine Flower" at the close of their Shanghai concert on Wednesday to mark the Shanghai Oriental Art Center's 20th anniversary.
Young pianist Daniel Kharitonov performed Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 1. The second part of the concert featured Shostakovich's Symphony No. 7.
The Russian orchestra has performed at the Oriental Art Center four times. The Art Center, Pudong's prominent cultural facility, announced its new performance season before the concert.

From August until January next year, 77 performances of 48 productions will be staged, including music, dance, and drama.
The Berlin Philharmonic and Vienna Philharmonic will headline the symphony segment in November. Other major orchestras scheduled to perform at the Art Center include the Staatskapelle Dresden, which will make its sixth visit; Teodor Currentzis and MusicAeterna, who will return for the third year in a row; and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.
The new season will feature world-renowned musicians such as cellist Wang Jian and pianists Denis Matsuev, Yefim Bronfman, and Chen Sa.
The Berlin Philharmonic will be making its third visit to the Oriental Art Center in November.
The Moscow Art Theater will stage Anton Chekhov's classic drama "The Seagull" in August for the first time. Russia's Vakhtangov Theater will present Rimas Tuminas' "Eugene Onegin," while another landmark production, "Uncle Vanya," will also have its Chinese premiere here.
The beloved Eifman Ballet will mark its sixth appearance at the Oriental Art Center in November with "Anna Karenina" and "The Brothers Karamazov."
