Pinghu City, in neighboring Zhejiang Province, is promoting itself to tourists through a new photo campaign focused on its cultural and scenic beauty.

Shutterbugs from Shanghai and Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui provinces visited Pinghu over the weekend to record the folk flavor of its annual watermelon lantern festival, as well as night views of the Donghu Lake and Minghu Lake scenic areas. They also visited the ancient family residence of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) landlord Mo Fangmei.

Their works will be displayed on high-speed trains operating in the Yangtze River Delta region and via photo exhibitions to promote the splendor of the city, the Pinghu City Administration of Culture, Radio and Television, Tourism and Sports said on Tuesday.

The event hosted by the administration and China Railway Shanghai Group aims to lure more shutterbugs to Pinghu where they can experience its history, culture and customs.

Pinghu is an ancient city with a history dating back more than 6,000 years.

It boasts the Donghu Lake scenic area, the Jiulong Mountain National Forest Park and Pinghu Folk Customs Museum.
