By now you've heard, that a big Typhoon is expected to make landfall this evening and progress further inland over the weekend and Monday. We can expect heavy rainfall and gale-force winds.
As of 5pm today, the city of Shanghai issued a blue alert for the typhoon, which is the lowest rating on the Typhoon rating scale.
But more importantly, here is a list of items that expats should be aware of, and prepare for.
Travel
Pay close attention to changes in schedule and weather information before planning trips.
Airports: So far, Shanghai's airports have not been impacted by massive delays. If you are planning to fly out over the next few days, it's best to check your flight's status and plan accordingly. Currently, it's reported that Delta Airlines has suspended flights on a re-book policy on flights coming from Shanghai.

Trains: A few train services are being halted due to the Typhoon. This includes trains from Shanghai to Kunming, Nanjing, and others. According to the China Railway Shanghai Group, these trains specifically have been canceled temporarily:

Stock Up
