Vicky Cheng of China's highest entry, Wing

We're thrilled to announce that the crème de la crème of China and winner of the Art of Hospitality award at a stellar No. 11 is none other than Wing in Hong Kong, serving up "boundary-less" Chinese gastronomy. What began as an exclusive, midnight supper test kitchen at chef and owner Vicky Cheng's debut venue, Vea, has blossomed into a contemporary Chinese fine dining marvel, conveniently located just a flight of stairs down.

Signature crab dish at Wing

With a robust 20-year stint in the realm of French fine dining, Cheng never had plans to dive into Chinese cuisine. However, after returning to his hometown of Hong Kong, he found himself irresistibly drawn to local flavors. Wing's menu pays homage to the Eight Great Chinese Cuisines, melding tradition with a "no-rules" contemporary twist. Inspired by Cheng's Chinese name, Wing embodies hope and resilience – sentiments that reflect his pride in China's rich heritage and his quest to unveil the untold stories of its culinary past. This year, Cheng was also awarded the renowned Chef's Choice Award as part of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2025, a testament to his commitment to redefining the gastronomic narrative in Hong Kong.

Signature crab dish at The Chairman

Coming in at No. 19 is celebrated chef Danny Yip's Hong Kong establishment The Chairman, moving up seven spots since last year. Under Yip's leadership, The Chairman made history in 2021 by becoming the first Chinese restaurant to reign supreme as No. 1 on the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list, while also being the first Chinese establishment to crack the top 10 in The World's 50 Best Restaurants ranking – a noteworthy feat for a sharing-style Cantonese spot that offers an alternative to extravagant tasting menus.

And now for the pièce de résistance of the evening: Maido in Lima has claimed the title of the world's top restaurant! The brainchild of chef-owner Mitsuharu "Micha" Tsumura (who won the 2024 Chef's Choice Award), Maido hones in on Nikkei cuisine – a blend of Peruvian ingredients and Japanese techniques – that honors both culinary traditions while representing the gastronomic history of the Japanese diaspora in Peru via a tasting menu of more than 10 courses.

Before we dive into the complete list, a quick note on how it all comes together: The rankings are based on anonymous votes from the World's 50 Best Restaurants Academy – an influential, gender-balanced panel of 1,120 food writers, critics, chefs, restaurateurs and culinary whizzes from across the globe.

Without further ado, here's the eagerly-awaited full list of the World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025:
