Created by the British theater troupe Punchdrunk, the immersive theater "Sleep No More" is inspired by Shakespeare’s well-known tragedy “Macbeth.”
An array of programs will be presented this week for both locals and foreign expats to bid farewell to 2024 and celebrate the arrival of 2025.
The Shanghai version of the award-winning immersive theater “Sleep No More” will turn on a new festive look with a feast of New Year carnival and party, interactive market, art installation display, and cabaret dance performances.

Set to the backdrop of 1930s Shanghai, the theater also blends Hitchcock-style suspense elements. Visitors wearing masks can interact with the performers in mostly wordless scenes.
The Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center has also introduced the British comedy “The Unfriend.”
Through January 12, the comedy written by Steven Moffat, scriptwriter of the acclaimed British TV series “Sherlock,” will be staged at the center. It is a story that highlights the importance of sincerity in communication and interpersonal relationships.
Dragon TV will present a New Year Eve's gala.
A New Year’s Eve gala will also be presented on Dragon TV tonight at 7:30pm. Pop singers from home and abroad will perform their representative songs.
Tomorrow at 9pm, Dragon TV and Knews will live broadcast the Climbing of the Oriental Pearl Tower, which has been a popular way for people in Shanghai to embrace the New Year.
On the afternoon of January 5, local and foreign students of the Shanghai Citizens' Art Night School will display their handicrafts, calligraphy, and paintings at the Shanghai Mass Art Center.
