A new "travel light" service is being piloted at 19 major railway stations across China, including Shanghai, Shanghai Hongqiao, Beijing West and Guangzhou South.
The service offers convenient same-city luggage transport options – either from your doorstep to the station, or from the station to your destination – to help those traveling with bulky luggage.
What is 'travel light' service?
Passengers within 35 kilometers of participating stations can choose from two types of "travel light" services based on their needs:
1. "Door-to-Station" service for departing passengers
- With this option, staff will pick up eligible luggage from the passenger's designated location and transport it to the departure station. After passing security checks, the luggage will be delivered either to the boarding platform or to a designated luggage service locker (or service center) within the station.
2. "Station-to-Door" service for arriving passengers
- With this option, staff will collect the luggage from the boarding platform or designated luggage service locker (or service center) at the station, and deliver it to the specified location within an agreed time.

Important notes
- For door-to-station service, bookings must be made between 4 and 48 hours before departure. Staff will pick up the luggage, transport it to the station, and – after security checks – either store it in a service locker 30 minutes before departure, or deliver it to the platform 10 minutes before departure, based on the passenger's request.
- For station-to-door service, bookings must be made between 1 and 24 hours before arrival. Staff will collect the luggage and deliver it to the specified address within 5 hours.
- Bookings can be canceled any time before luggage is picked up, free of charge.
- Before delivery, staff will confirm with the passenger by phone.
- If a passenger changes travel plans (e.g. refund or reschedule), the service will be handled accordingly and charged as per agreement.
