30-Year Retrospective Honors Masters of Chinese Oil Painting

The exhibition "Majestic China: The 30-year Retrospective of The China Oil Painting Society" is on display at the China Art Museum.

The exhibition, jointly organized by the China Oil Painting Society, China Academy of Art, Central Academy of Fine Arts and Shanghai Art Museum to mark the 30th anniversary of the society, encompasses 12 galleries and showcases nearly 800 significant works from the past three decades, illustrating the creative exploration and artistic accomplishments in Chinese oil painting.

The display is one of the largest in the country. Scheduled to run through January 4, 2026, the exhibition features Chinese oil-painting masters from different generations, including Zhan Jianjun, Chen Junde, Wang Chengyi and Yu Youhan, as well as Luo Zhongli, Jin Shangyi, Yang Feiyun, Liu Xiaodong and Wang Yidong. Their significant works from various eras showcase the rich layers of artistic experimentation, stylistic evolution and spiritual expression that characterize modern Chinese oil painting.

A special archival section has been established, featuring rare photographs and historical materials that document the development of the society. This section offers visitors insight into the academic journey of Chinese oil painting over the past decades.
