Amaranthine in Hand – a dual exhibition by Fu Yiyao and Niu Ann will run to July 20 at the Shanghai Jiaxi International Art Center inside Yifeng Galleria.
Organized by the Shanghai International Culture Association, the show features 118 pieces, with over half the works highlighting contemporary interpretations of the fan as a medium. It shows a vivid reflection of what it means to be both "amaranthine" and "modern."
Fu Yiyao, daughter of modern Chinese painting master Fu Baoshi, inherits his bold and expressive ink style while infusing it with feminine elegance and emotional depth. Her work radiates wisdom and sensitivity drawn from lived experience.
Niu Ann, known for her pioneering presence in contemporary art, brings together her traditional Chinese artistic sensibilities with a contemporary context to create pieces that exude cultural confidence and serene introspection.
Set against the historic and fashion-forward backdrop of the Bund, the exhibition is a visual feast, bringing fresh and diverse artistic vitality to Shanghai.
