The exhibition on deep sea explorers at Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park is drawing big crowds.
Diversified activities are being rolled out at Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park in the Pudong New Area to bring summer fun and a cool experience for visitors through the end of August.
A heavyweight event is an exhibition catering especially to deep-sea explorers. It showcases hundreds of deep-sea samples, treasures and models from research vessels as well as marine equipment.
These include China's manned deep-sea submersible Jiaolong, cutting-edge manned submersible Fendouzhe (Striver) and Shenhai Yongshi (Deep Sea Warrior), and research vessel Dayang Yihao (Ocean No. 1) and Zhang Qian.
A dreamlike mermaid show at the park
Through August 31, the exhibition, which opened on June 7, features four themed areas of deep-sea technology. It outlines the infinite possibilities of ocean exploration and frontier scientific capabilities.
Notably, the exhibition gathers rare exhibits from national research institutions, universities and enterprises across China. It celebrates the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the China Ocean Mineral Resources R&D Association, with the simultaneous launch of the "2025 Deep-Sea Discovery Journey and UN 'Ocean Decade' in Schools" event.
It involves a series of activities such as an underwater robot design competition and global scientific expedition voyage solicitation to cultivate future marine science and technology talents.

In addition to the exhibition, the park's "Mermaid Fairy Tale" show will present an underwater art feast beyond imagination.
Scales shining, fish tails swaying... When ten thousand golden trevallies and mermaids merge into a swimming galaxy and "dance" together, the beauty of the ocean is integrated into artistic aesthetics in the 10-meter-deep inclined exhibition tank with 7,000 tons of water.
With 360-degree spiral rotation in water, fancy gestures, and backflips, mermaids will swing silver-scaled water splashes with their tails, making the entire tank glow.
The park will start night operation from June 21, and more than 100 performances will be staged this summer.

A fun 200-meter polar bear mecha parade, led by a domineering 10-meter-tall polar bear mecha, will wow visitors. The Carnival Sea Electric Music Festival will kick off with a bang, where people will experience ultra-hot electric music live shows and a passionate carnival party.
Underwater ballet and star shows are also scheduled this summer, bringing a thrilling experience to visitors.
