Lego's "World Play Day" wonderland popped up at Shanghai's West Bund.
Under the theme of "Putting the world in play mode," Lego's "World Play Day" wonderland has popped up at Shanghai's West Bund and will be there through July 27.
As one of only four global host cities – the others being Berlin, Boston and London – Shanghai invites children and families to rediscover the radical power of play within an immersive, free-admission utopia built of bricks and colossal imagination.
Step into the main hall, greeted by 20 life-size Lego minifigures, each embodying a unique urban dreamer, led by an "Explorer" guide.
Twenty life-size Lego minifigures featuring different characters are on show in the wonderland.
A 120-square-meter sandbox rebuilds Shanghai in miniature, featuring six iconic landmarks – the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, Wukang Mansion, Waibaidu Bridge and China Art Museum, all rendered in Lego bricks.
Built from nearly 100,000 Lego bricks at a 1:220 scale, the model of Legoland Shanghai Resort is also on show here. This model was crafted over six months by 11 designers from the Merlin Magic Making team and 29 Lego model builders from around the world.
The wonderland offers a range of interactive games for children. Transformed into Lego style, Shanghai's iconic shikumen, plane trees, Sheshan Mountain and Yuehu Lake invite kids to play.
Outside the building, three Lego buses travel along the West Bund. Designed by Australian artist Sha'an d'Anthes, the cute buses and stops connect the wonderland and the real city.
