On September 27, acclaimed bass Zhang Jianlu, pillar of the Shanghai Opera House and one of China's most distinguished voices, invites audiences into the world of Schubert and Brahms.
Zhang is renowned for his powerful yet expressive voice and deeply insightful interpretations.
His operatic career includes leading bass roles such as Ramfis ("Aida"), Colline ("La Bohème"), Timur ("Turandot"), Sparafucile ("Rigoletto"), Dr Dulcamara ("L'Elisir d'Amore"), Bartolo ("Le Nozze di Figaro"), and Don Pasquale ("Don Pasquale"). Beyond China, he has performed widely across Asia and Europe, earning international acclaim.
Since 2014, Zhang has also dedicated himself to the study of German Lieder, performing cycles such as Schumann's "Dichterliebe," Schubert's "Die schöne Müllerin" and "Winterreise" in concert halls from Shanghai to Berlin.
