Spectacular dance drama returns for fourth city run

Back by overwhelming demand, the spectacular dance drama "Tiangong Kaiwu" returns to Shanghai this November for its fourth run in the city.

On November 8-9, the Poly Grand Theater will once again light up with this cultural phenomenon that has captivated audiences nationwide.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lu Chuan and co-produced by Jiangxi Cultural Performance Group and the Beijing Dance Academy, the production has toured 29 cities with over 90 sold-out performances and more than 70,000 attendees.

Blending breathtaking choreography, immersive visuals, and music inspired by the sounds of ancient labor, "Tiangong Kaiwu" brings to life the legacy of Song Yingxing, the Ming Dynasty scholar hailed as "China's Diderot" or "Pioneer of Chinese Technology."

From soaring aerial dances to striking stagecraft rooted in Ming-era aesthetics, the show offers an unforgettable journey into Chinese tradition and innovation.
