This summer, South America's vibes are hitting Shanghai hard. On June 20 and 28, Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai is bringing in The Timba Andina for two nights of awesome live music – a cool mix of Andean vibes and Caribbean energy that'll take you right to the heart of Latin America.
The Timba Andina is all about that mix of the dramatic Andes and the lively Caribbean vibe, bringing a sound that's as wide-ranging as the continent itself.
Started by Peruvian maestro Roberto Pickling, this international group brings together musicians from Bolivia, Colombia, Paraguay, Mauritius, Ukraine, and beyond – each contributing their unique sound to a colorful mix of musical styles.
Their concerts combine traditional folk, salsa, samba, tango, jazz, hip hop and even Chinese classical music with Andean instruments like pan flutes, harps and quenas, Afro-Latin percussion, and soaring jazz brass.
El Cóndor Pasa and other Latin classics will be reimagined with new textures and genre-defying rhythms. It's a celebration of culture, movement and musical dialogue across borders.
Dance to the beat or just enjoy the show – this concert offers joy and purpose to the body and soul.
