Fall is, arguably, the best season there is, for fashion at least. And when November comes to an end, only the thought of a rapidly approaching Christmas season fills my heart with joy. I would say, some of our best Street Chic's come out during fall; the interesting layering of garments, the trees painted golden and the switch from ice coffee to a warm cup of Joe (I heard it on "The Office") , all of it makes for a great vibe.

We decided to do something a little different for this month's Street Chic (we sort of like switching up formats). For a long time we've thought about doing a nightlife edition of street chic, because every Shanghai dweller knows, our outfits and fashion transform when the sun goes down. And what better way to capture Shanghai's night vibe, than to crash the party at TOMORROWLAND.

For those of you who had no clue what was going on – don't worry, I was right there with you. Turns out, Tomorrowland is kind of a big deal. Like, not-just-for-EDM-fans big, but a full cultural moment for Shanghai. The festival started in Europe and has finally made its glam, bass-heavy debut here.

And naturally, when people show up somewhere they can totally ditch real-world dress codes and be as extra as their hearts desire… the outfits get wild. We're talking everything from effortlessly cool to "did you DIY this at 3am with a glue gun?" levels of chaotic energy.

So, for fun, I split our lovely attendees into two camps: the fashionable and the bizarre. And honestly? At a music festival, both categories are iconic. Both are valid. Both deserve their moment.

The Rave-Fashion Ones:

Caption: Starting off strong... Too strong, some might say. Let me take a wild guess on the inspiration promt for both of these lovely ladies, it probably went something like this "Jetsons Austin Powers Fem-Bots, One From Mars, One From Antartica Realness" And honestly, for an EDM festival, it works.

Caption: Now, forget the Fem-bots from outerspace. This gorgeous girl said, let me show you how to dress comfortably from the waist down while looking fierce from the waist up. Honestly, if someone was to ever combine a 3D printed butterfly bra with yoga pants and Balenciaga triple S shoes, it should be at Tomorrowland where rules don't apply. Swing big and never settle for discomfort must've been her motto for the day, and I can respect that.

Caption: With Christmas season being less than a month away, this dazzling cape would make a great backdrop for a Christmas gift giving party. The Matrix glasses I can appreciate too, suits the Tomorrowland futuristic-underground vibe, so she was definitely on theme. And you can see that she's feeling her best in this, so what more can you ask for?

The Fashionable Ones:

Caption: Let's be real: the best thing these girls are wearing is their face cards. The eyes? Snatched. The cheeks? Sculpted. The skin? Poreless to the point of witchcraft. Absolute perfection. The outfits, surprisingly, are kind of coordinating in a cute, unplanned-but-definitely-planned way. Trend alert: black tops for the music festival – bonus points if it's black lace. And of course, no fit is complete without a fierce neck accessory that ties in with whatever situation you've got going on from the waist down. Fashion math, babes.

Caption: Finally, some men. Another trend alert, Matrix coats and glasses. These two gents look like it is not their first time at the EDM festival. They know what to wear and how to wear it. Comfortable with a bit of edge added through accessorizing, love it, no notes.

Caption: If you've been keeping up with my Street Chics, you may know my love for jorts. We can still can pull them off, even in November, just by adding some warm sock, Uggs or boots, like one of our ladies over here. And I must say, I see what her friend was going for with that liquid silver top and distressed jean skirt, a very festival appropriate look.

Caption: Something I've noticed with many Chinese guys, their ultimate favorite things to wear are chunky platform boots (for height) and bell bottoms skinny pants. An vintage fashion trend, contrasting Western menswear, where the go-to is still over-sized pants and sneakers. Anyways, here we even see a cowboy hat, a recent piece of clothing gaining popularity among Chinese (Shanghainese) young people. Cool, no notes, great festival look.
