Typhoon Bavi got stronger overnight instead of weaker, and its landfall point just shifted north – a change that means more wind and rain for Shanghai, not less.

Shanghai issued a blue typhoon alert at 10am on Friday even as Bavi, the ninth typhoon of the year, was downgraded from super typhoon to strong typhoon.
