Expats can use either the 12366 hotline or the city's tax service website for help with income tax questions. Assistance is available in eight languages including English and Korean.

1. 12366 Tax Service Hotline

【1】Dial 021-12366, then press 2 "Foreign Language,"

【2】Follow the system guide. Choose to enter the voice menu. For service in English, press 1. For service in Korean, press 2. For service in French, press 3. Continue listening for other language options.

【3】Ask a question in the chosen language. The system will respond accordingly.

2. Online consulting

【1】Visit the website of Shanghai Municipal Tax Service, State Taxation Administration.

【2】Click the "Foreign Language Service" button on the page.

【3】Enter text in the dialog box in a foreign language and the system will respond.

3. Scanning QR code

【1】Scan the QR Code through your phone camera or WeChat or Alipay apps.

【2】Slide the menu bar and click the "Foreign Language Service" button.

【3】Enter text in the dialog box in a foreign language and the system will respond.
