Shanghai Disney Resort Plans Fourth Themed Hotel
Shanghai Disney Resort has announced a major expansion plan that includes the addition of a fourth themed hotel and new shopping and dining experiences at Disneytown, further enriching the resort's accommodation and leisure options.
Located just steps away from the main entrance of Shanghai Disneyland, the new hotel will offer visitors convenient access to the park while immersing them in a distinctive Disney storytelling environment.
Another retail and entertainment zone near Disneytown will be added as part of the expansion. The area will have a new Disney shopping destination similar to the World of Disney Store opposite the park's main entrance and a variety of dining and entertainment options without entering the park.
Meanwhile, the resort's third themed hotel – a nine-story deluxe property situated on the south side of Wishing Star Lake, adjacent to the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel – is now in the stage of interior fit-out and façade construction.
The hotel draws inspiration from Shanghai's Art Nouveau architecture and embodies the resort's design philosophy of being "authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese." It will feature park-view rooms, along with both outdoor and indoor pools to enhance the experience for guests.
Shanghai Disney Resort currently operates two themed hotels – the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and the Toy Story Hotel. The planned third and fourth hotels will further expand the resort's hospitality offerings, meeting growing visitor demand.
The announcement comes as Shanghai Disneyland celebrates a major milestone, marking another important step in the resort's continued growth.
Last week, the park welcomed its 100 millionth visitor since opening in 2016 – an achievement reached in just over nine years.
According to the Themed Entertainment Association's (TEA) 2024 Global Experience Index, Shanghai Disneyland recorded 14.7 million annual attendance last year, ranking fifth among the "Top 25 Amusement/Theme Parks Worldwide" and remaining first in China, with an annual growth rate of 5 percent, the highest among the global top ten.

Beyond hotel and retail expansion, the resort is also moving forward with new attractions, including a Spider-Man-themed land and an expansion of the park's signature attraction, Soaring Over the Horizon.
Together, these developments mark the next chapter in Shanghai Disney Resort's evolution as a premier global tourism destination.
