Shanghai Disney Resort unveiled an engaging "Zootopia 2" celebration today, providing guests with an exclusive preview of characters from the anticipated sequel prior to its theatrical release on November 26.
The event, which runs until January 27 next year, showcases film-themed decor, immersive elements and reinterpreted entertainment.
Three global-first experiences were revealed.
From November 19 to January 27, 2026, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde will greet guests at Main Entrance in these sparkling new outfits.
Gary De'Snake, a new character from the sequel, made his exclusive appearance in the "Zootopia Comes Alive" show.
The song "Zoo," an original track from "Zootopia 2" performed by Shakira as Gazelle, made its global debut at the park.
The song will be incorporated into a celebratory concluding segment following the "Zootopia: Hot Pursuit" attraction.
Shakira, as Gazelle, performed the new song "Zoo."
As part of the limited-time celebration, the park tickets had limited-edition Zootopia name cards, featuring more than 10 celebrated and new characters.
Visitors can check the "Zootopia Detective Quest" WeChat mini-program to dive deeper into the unfolding story that follows Judy and Nick throughout the area.
The Zootopia-themed land is the eighth themed land within Shanghai Disneyland.
"Since opening in December 2023, Zootopia has welcomed millions of guests from home and abroad, becoming one of the resort's most beloved experiences and earning global theme park industry recognition," said Andrew Bolstein, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort.
Jared Bush, chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios and writer and director of "Zootopia 2," reflected on his first visit to Shanghai two years ago.
"Stepping into this incredible set that brings our film to life, I was overwhelmed with emotions. Returning today for the Zootopia 2 Global Celebration is incredibly meaningful for us."
The film inspired the land, and in turn, the land inspired the next adventure on screen. The new film seamlessly incorporates beloved locations from the land, like the Sheep Barbershop and Zootopia Fitness, into its narrative.
Bush remarked, "It's a beautiful cycle of inspiration, demonstrating how Disney storytelling permeates every medium."
Inside the "Zootopia: Hot Pursuit" attraction, new Easter eggs hint at the sequel's plot. Judy's desk now holds a case file on Gary and a personal letter from Nick. Nick's cubicle features his new movie outfit, a fresh photo with Judy, and a mysterious key from Nibbles – a key artifact from "Zootopia 2."
Signs for "Marsh Market," a new district featured in the sequel, can be seen on Mane Street and inside the Zootopia Police Department.
The city also introduces additional new characters, including therapist Dr Fuzzby, Mayor Brian Winddancer (whose portrait is displayed in the police station), and new officers Zebros and Higgins.
