Top executives from e-commerce giants Alibaba and JD.com presented a transformative vision for the future, driven by smart logistics and artificial intelligence, at the 11th annual World Internet Conference, which began on Friday in the scenic watertown of Wuzhen.

The new technologies have the potential to fundamentally change daily life, possibly enabling a scenario where individuals only need to work one day a week.

In JD.com's "New Wave of Logistics" declaration, Chairman Liu Qiangdong said unmanned delivery is the future of socialized logistics.

He said JD.com's unmanned delivery stations will be launched next year, a key step toward a future where people work "one day or even one hour a week."

Liu's core argument is that unmanned delivery will significantly reduce logistics costs. This reduction will boost corporate profits and trigger a "positive cycle" of higher employee wages, stronger consumer confidence, and an improved economic structure.

Alibaba CEO Eddie Wu focused on the future of AI, announcing plans to build a "Super AI Cloud" and promote open-source initiatives and technological inclusiveness.

In the next decade, "AI liberation of productivity and humanity itself will be beyond imagination," Wu said.

Alibaba's commitment to openness is exemplified by its Qianwen (Qwen) family of large models, which has established itself as a significant player in the global open-source community.

Alibaba has made over 300 models available as open source, covering a wide variety of modalities and sizes. These models have achieved over 600 million downloads worldwide and have led to the creation of more than 170,000 derivative models, placing Alibaba at the forefront of the global market.

The speeches highlight the country's initiative to harness advanced technology to transform work, logistics, and economic value.
