Fujian Artist Chen Yujun Exhibits at Long Museum
Chen Yujun's solo exhibition at the Long Museum West Bund runs till January 4, 2026.
The "I, We - Chen Yujun solo exhibition" features 30 paintings, installations, and sculptures, including several made for the museum's gallery spaces. The exhibition features post-2020 works of the Fujian-born artist, unlike his previous exhibitions.
Organized in reverse chronology, the exhibition is arranged into three sections: The Outsider, Displaced Spaces, and Nature. This framework shows how Chen's past studies created the foundations for a reconfiguration of time and space in his latest works and acknowledges the basic origins and sustenance of his work.
Chen has had two solo exhibitions at the Long Museum: "Sheng Zhang" in 2021 at Long Museum West Bund and "Arthouser" in 2022 at Long Museum Chongqing.
The three exhibitions, distinctly different as they span diverse media and disciplines, have unfolded a rich, multidimensional and varied art scene that offers viewers a continuous stream of surprises.
To prepare for this exhibition, Chen has spent roughly two years refining every aspect – from its theme and spatial design to the smallest installational details – revisiting and revising each element again and again. More than a routine summary of his work, the presentation is also a personal reckoning with his own creative journey.
While hoping to weave his reflections into broader social discourse through multi-dimensional artistic expression, Chen wishes every viewer who pauses before a work to forge an individual path of self-recognition and self-development.
When each "I" is thus connected, a wider "we" emerges, expanding the possibilities that lie ahead.
