Exploring the Infinite Possibilities of Perception With Artist Chen
Artist Chen Chuanduan invites audiences into an ethereal realm between memory, science and dreams with his solo exhibition "The Tacit Measure: Caves, Comets, and Dreams Uncollapsed," which is underway at Fotografiska Shanghai and will run through January 11 next year.
Inspired by physicist Hugh Everett III's multiverse theory, Chen's photographic works blur the line between the physical and the imagined.
Through series such as "The Meteor of the Blue Comet," "The Cave is an Eternal Night" and "Specimen 84003," he reconstructs forgotten dreams, cosmic traces and emotional landscapes from his youth. Each image unfolds like an archeological dig into consciousness, searching for what has vanished yet still glimmers within.
A rising voice in Chinese contemporary photography, Chen blends science, mysticism and poetic vision to explore the infinite possibilities of perception. His works form a love letter to parallel realities, reminding viewers of the universe that still lives quietly inside each of us.
