Tradition takes the stage at cultural heritage concert
A Shanghai Intangible Cultural Heritage Concert is to be staged at the Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall on June 8.
The concert will include 10 compositions, displaying traditional instruments and distinct school cultures, including Jiangnan silk and bamboo music, Chongming-style pipa, Zhejiang school guzheng, and Taoist music.
The musical pieces have either been curated and composed by individuals, or preserved through scores passed on by institutions such as the Shanghai Chenghuang (City God) Temple.
Three municipal-level intangible cultural heritage bearers will join the performance, exploring the "auditory memory of the city."
There will be an after-show session where the performers will meet the audience.
The concert is part of the Shanghai Music Hall's Chinese traditional Chamber Music series. The next two concerts will be in the second half of the year.
