A Beef Lover's Dream Festival Lands in Shanghai
Calling all beef lovers: Shanghai's first Holy Cow Festival is set to bring a full-on outdoor celebration of beef, food, games, and entertainment to the city. The festival will take place at two locations on different dates: Sinar Mars Plaza from April 23 to 26, and Hongqiao Xintiandi from April 30 to May 5.
At the heart of the festival is a celebration of the cow and its place in food culture around the world. From beef to dairy, the event shines a light on the many ways different parts of the cow are used in cooking and enjoyed across cuisines.
Visitors can expect a wide spread of dishes, including burgers, sausages, steaks, beef skewers, and more. There will also be plenty of different cooking styles on display, from dry-aging and charcoal grilling to pan-frying and braising, showing just how many ways beef can be prepared.
The festival will also feature a range of cuts and grades, including Wagyu, along with beef snacks and other specialties, making it a great stop for anyone serious about meat.
Alongside the food stalls, there will be a Beefdog Eating Challenge, where contestants will have five minutes to eat as many hot dog buns as possible. The winner will take home a cash prize of 1,888 yuan. Whether you plan to join the contest or just watch the action, the festival promises plenty to eat and plenty to enjoy.
