Baoshan to Host International Water Sports This National Day Holiday
Baoshan District in northern Shanghai will host two international water sports events during the National Day holiday.
The UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship – Grand Prix of Shanghai will take place on October 2-3, followed by the UIM F1H2O World Championship Grand Prix of Shanghai on October 4-5. Both events will be held in the inner harbor waters of Shanghai Changtan along the Yangtze River.
Aquabike will feature seated, standing, and freestyle races. More than 65 riders, including 13 from China, will compete.
F1H2O will feature qualifying, sprint races, and the Shanghai Grand Prix with 18 drivers.
This year, organizers added 448 regular grandstand seats, bringing the two events' total to 1,560. They expect more than 12,500 spectators a day for both events.
Visitors can buy tickets through the Damai app and its Alipay and WeChat mini programs. Ticket options include half-day and full-day tickets, family packages and two-day passes.
Aquabike tickets range from 135 yuan (US$20.1) to 720 yuan. F1H2O tickets range from 160 yuan to 810 yuan. There is an early-bird discount of 20 percent.
The two races are part of a wider National Day program along the Baoshan waterfront from September 26 to October 7. The program will include family sports, cycling, outdoor activities, water sports experiences, exhibitions and performances.
A major highlight will be on October 1, when the Adora Magic City and Spectrum of the Seas cruise ships are scheduled to berth at the Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal for an extended stay.
A drone and fireworks show is planned.
Event ticket stubs can be used to get discounts at restaurants, hotels, and shops. The program connects sports to tourism, dining, and other local activities.
