Lanterns, Drums to Light Up Qiantan New Year Market at Expo Waterfront
Street lanterns are going up, drums are warming up, and the city's first wave of festive energy is already on the move.
A lively and immersive Chinese New Year market will open at the Expo waterfront, filling the area with festive sounds, flavors and seasonal charm.
From January 31 to February 1, the Qiantan New Year Market will turn Qiantan Park Lane into a bustling street scene inspired by traditional Chinese fairs.
Nearly 100 stalls line the lanes, offering regional snacks, handmade crafts, quality New Year goods, playful folk games and interactive heritage experiences.
Think freshly cooked comfort food from across China, paper cutting, sugar painting, calligraphy couplets, ring toss games, and small surprises hidden around every corner.
The experience weaves in festive performances and cultural moments. On January 31, a special intangible cultural heritage concert will take place at the crossroads of the lane, blending traditional elements with contemporary performance.
As the weeks go on, lion dances, flower lantern nights, and folk parades will continue to light up Qiantan, building momentum all the way to the Lantern Festival.
