Shanghai City Lawn Music Concerts Strike Winter Notes

Shanghai's winter soundtrack is about to begin. The 2025 Shanghai City Lawn Music Concerts · Winter Notes returns this weekend, bringing two free outdoor performances to the Shanghai City Lawn Music Plaza, an open-air morning of jazz, brass and golden-leaf magic right in the heart of the city.

First onstage is the Evgeny Pobozhiy Quartet, led by the internationally acclaimed Russian jazz guitarist and Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz International Guitar Competition winner.

Together with powerhouse vocalist Denise Mininfield and an all-star rhythm section from the United States, the United Kingdom, Ukraine and Venezuela, the group will deliver a soulful blend of jazz, R&B, funk and groove.

The music continues with the Ginkgo Concert, presented by the Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall. Led by renowned horn professor and conductor Han Xiaoming, the Shanghai Brass ensemble brings together top players from major Shanghai orchestras.

Expect a brilliant, resonant program spanning Baroque splendor, Renaissance dance, and metropolitan jazz, which is performed beneath the turning ginkgo trees for a truly cinematic winter moment.
