The "China Through the Lens of World Photography Master Michael Freeman Photography Exhibition" marks four decades of British photographer Freeman's visits to China.

The exhibition is divided into four sections: "Connections," which pairs photographs taken in various locations that share a common stylistic feature; "Myriad Tastes," which explores cuisine and beverages; "Magic City," which presents Freeman's personal view of Shanghai; and "The Far West," which depicts the borderland traversed by the Tea Horse Road.

Adopting "Visual Connections" as its narrative technique, the curatorial team invites viewers to find beauty beyond the frame and to explore how Freeman, through his lens, expresses his enduring love and profound understanding of Chinese culture.

Classically trained in long-form editorial photo-reportage, Freeman began his career after studying geography at Oxford University and a brief stint in advertising in London.

Over the course of 50 years, he has worked on photography stories for all the leading international picture magazines and book publishers, including Time-Life, GEO, and the Smithsonian Magazine, with whom he had a 30-year relationship.

Most of his work has been abroad, with a particular focus on Asia, in the form of hundreds of picture stories.

In addition to magazine features, he has published 162 books to date, many of which have become classics in their genre. On China, his books include "Tea Horse Road," tracing the ancient trade route from present-day Yunnan and Sichuan to Lhasa, and most recently "The Life of Tea," which received the prestigious Fortnum and Mason Drink Book of the Year Award.

Freeman is also the world's leading author of books on the craft and practice of photography, with 5 million copies sold in 28 languages.
