Beyond Liminality: Bold Vision of Modern Ink Art in Shanghai

Latest exhibition "Beyond Liminality: Contemporary Ink Artists Summit Program II" brings a bold vision of modern ink art to the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts (SIVA) Gallery.

The exhibition gathers 15 artists from across the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Southeast Asia to explore how traditional ink finds new life in the age of globalization and technology.

Through works that blend brush, paper, artificial intelligence (AI) and installation, the show redefines ink as a language of innovation – at once rooted in heritage and reaching toward the future.

As curator Shi Mo notes, liminality is not a boundary but a space of becoming, where ink art reinvents its own possibilities.
