Connecting People in an Increasingly Digital World
A contemporary art show exploring how people connect in an increasingly digital world has opened in the Pudong New Area, bringing together artists from around the globe.
The third edition of "Let's Stay Together," organized by the Pudong Culture and Art Guidance Center, is running at the center's Garage Museum through June 5.
Built around the theme "togetherness," this year's exhibition examines the emotional pressures of modern life and the desire for understanding and acceptance.
It features 28 invited artists and 70 emerging artists from China, Spain, Argentina and other countries, with more than 150 works spanning painting, installation, video and digital media.
A defining feature of this year's edition is the fusion of traditional artistic practice with digital technology, AIGC (artificial intelligence-generated content) tools, music and other media, reflecting how contemporary artists are pushing creative boundaries.
Among the featured names is Julián Pesce, whose series "The Soul of Dust" explores the relationship between technology and nature.
The Argentine artist said the project began in 2023 during a collaboration with scientists, when he noticed through a microscope that microelectronic designs closely resembled the patterns of printmaking. He then combined magnified circuit imagery with floral forms he encountered in China, creating layered compositions where mechanical structures and living forms appear to coexist.
The result, Pesce noted, is a reminder that technology may be less cold and distant than many people assume.
