
Exhibition Sheds Light on Evolution of Chinese Sculpture
A large-scale sculpture exhibition is currently on at the Shanghai Art Museum.
Scheduled to run through April 7, the solo exhibition, titled "Between Heaven and Earth: Zeng Chenggang Sculpture Exhibition," features 137 pieces (sets) of sculptures crafted over the course of more than four decades by the artist who is also the president of the China Sculpture Institute, chairman of the Shanghai Artists Association, and dean of the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University.
Arranged in four chapters, the exhibition is not only a sincere retrospective of Zeng's creative career but also offers a peek into how modern Chinese sculpture evolved along with the development of Oriental aesthetics.
Jointly hosted by the China Artists' Association, the China Sculpture Institute, the Shanghai Art Museum, the Shanghai Artists' Association, the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, and the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, the exhibition is one of the events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the art museum.
