Jiajia's Miniature Knits Turn Time and Memory into a Quiet Exhibition
Tiny clothes, soft yarn, and years of quiet devotion come together in this intimate exhibition.
Local artist Jiajia's exhibition "Little Hours at Her Fingertips" traces more than 20 years of making, where each miniature garment holds a piece of time. What began as a childhood love for dolls gradually turned into a lifelong practice. Guided by her grandmother, Jiajia learned to knit at a young age, slowly creating sweaters and tiny accessories for the dolls she collected.
Over time, her world expanded. After studying digital art at Shanghai University, she explored animation, illustration and original doll-making, while continuing to work with her hands. Yarn, thread and fabric remained her most personal way of expression, allowing ideas to take shape slowly and intuitively.
In this space, the garments appear in different states. Some are worn by dolls, some are framed like preserved moments, and others remain unfinished. Together, they form a quiet timeline, where making and living overlap. Each piece carries the rhythm of repetition, patience, and small, deliberate gestures.
Though only a few centimeters in size, these works extend far beyond their scale. Patterns imagined in the mind become tangible, echoed through embroidery, stitching and carefully crafted details. Across different forms, they mirror one another, like fragments of a gently unfolding world.
