Running And Marathon Highlighted At Shanghai Sports Show
The 2025 Shanghai Sports Show opened at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, providing a platform for domestic and international sports businesses and industry professionals.
According to figures, Shanghai's sports business generated 316.9 billion yuan (US$44.78 billion) in output with an added value above 100 billion yuan in 2024, accounting for 1.9 percent of Shanghai's total GDP.
This year's expo covered 50,000 square meters and featured over 200 exhibitors, including well-known brands from the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, and France.
The trail running zone features authentic racecourse layouts with highly realistic simulations of rugged natural terrains, including rolling slopes and gravel sections.
The high-tech sports zone uses VR/AR gadgets to present future sports scenarios, allowing visitors to take part in data-driven fitness tests and immersive competitive exchanges.
The Shanghai Marathon zone provides equipment, information about the race's history and culture, and official souvenirs for competitors.
Running is a feature for several sports brands at this year's exhibition. Salomon launched their latest road running shoes and set up a workshop area to make cheering placards for marathon runners.
At the booth of Swiss running brand On, visitors can learn about how robotic arms weave a running shoe upper weighing only 30 grams in just three minutes and DIY their marathon shoe bags.
The Shanghai Sports Show also involves health-related lectures, a physical fitness challenge, and a breakdance competition. The exhibition is free, though advanced or on-site registration is required.
