The new Putuo District Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum officially opened on February 10. It is currently the newest and largest intangible cultural heritage (ICH)-themed exhibition space in Shanghai.

Spanning 1,058 square meters of immersive space, the museum showcases Putuo's ICH projects through a multidimensional integration of physical artifacts, themed scenes and digital light-and-shadow technology. This innovative approach transforms ICH from being "observed" to being "experienced," inviting both residents and visitors to participate in a tangible cultural feast.

Using digital twin and panoramic VR (virtual reality) technology, the museum has created a cross-temporal "digital cultural community," allowing visitors to practice Lu-style Xinyi Boxing or enjoy holographic performances of traditional Jiangnan (regions to the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River) music. Notably, artificial intelligence has been integrated into digital simulation systems for projects such as Shanghai-style lacquer art.
