Take a trip down memory lane with the best of Leica
Leica's Centennial Exhibition, "Witness to a Century: When China Meets Leica," has opened at the Shanghai Post Museum, inviting visitors on an evocative journey through China's cultural and visual history over the past century.
Among the exhibition's various sections, the "Vintage Camera and Lenses Archive" showcases rare antique cameras, lenses and unique limited-edition pieces from Leica's century-long history.
Visitors to the "Craftsmanship Workshop" can explore the evolution of precision engineering through immersive Leica exhibitions, which include disassembled camera parts and lens components, raw materials and original design sketches.
Curated by Fudan University's photography critic, professor Gu Zheng, the exhibition offers more than just a photographic feast; it serves as a visual discussion that transcends time, perspective and identity.
The exhibition features iconic photographs by renowned international masters such as Jin Shisheng, Wu Jialin, Liu Heung Shing, Steve McCurry and Yoshihiko Ueda.
To illustrate the contemporary visual context, works by emerging artists are also featured. The exhibition also includes rare personal works by Olympic champion Chen Yiwen and pop idols Luo Yunxi, Tan Songyun and Xiao Zhan. Many of these photos are being displayed to the public for the first time.
Karin Rehn-Kaufmann, art director and chief representative of Leica Galleries International, said that they are honored by their long-standing and inspiring collaboration with Chinese Leica photographers, whose unique perspectives and artistic vision continue to enrich the world of photography.
Photography enthusiasts can also immerse themselves in Leica's century-long photographic culture by attending master classes, panel talks and other events.
Reservations for entry to the exhibitions can be made through the WeChat Mini Program "Leica World."
