The Best of Dalí's Works on Show in Shanghai

"Surrealism is me," Salvador Dalí once declared. While the movement was started by the French poet André Breton, it was Salvador Dalí who emerged as its most significant figure.

Today, he is widely regarded as the most iconic surrealist in history.

Dalí believed that art should be a visualization of the subconscious. He drew deeply from Freudian ideas of dreams, anxiety, desire, and the unconscious mind. His works merge hyper-realistic technique with fantastical imagery, creating the sensation of a dream or hallucination made visible.

A historic building near the Bund is hosting the "1922 Comienzo" exhibition, featuring 149 original Salvador Dalí works. The melting clocks, sculptures, jewelry, and surreal objects transport visitors to a world of imagination and timelessness.
