When Traditional Designs Meet Digital Technology
The Fosun Foundation will host "The Way in Patterns: An Immersive Digital Exhibition by the Palace Museum" on December 9.
The exhibition, which runs through March 1, 2026, explores the decorative patterns of the Palace Museum, drawing from the intricate motifs found in its architecture, ceramics and textiles. By blending these traditional designs with cutting-edge digital technology, it unveils the deep cultural significance behind each pattern.
Chinese people have long infused daily life with vivid, symbolic motifs that speak of reverence for nature and all living things. Born from meticulous craft and an unyielding quest for beauty, these designs keep China's aesthetic spirit alive, quietly guiding how beauty is seen and lived today.
Comprising six sections, namely Profusion of Lights and Colors, Patterns of Nature, Ingenious Designs and Technology, Patterns and Fashion, Ceiling Decorations, The Palace Museum through the Window and Reinventing Traditional Patterns, the exhibition invites visitors to embark on a digital journey where history meets innovation and discover the beauty of Palace Museum patterns while immersing themselves in the richness of traditional Chinese culture.
