The Shanghai Oriental Art Center will host five chamber music concerts in May, providing world-class experiences for enthusiasts of this genre, characterized by equal voices and delicate playing.

On May 15, the Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet will perform the complete piano quartets by Brahms. Three Berlin Philharmonic musicians are jointed by pianist Markus Groh.

On May 16, I Musici from Italy will present classic Baroque works, including Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons." Founded over 70 years ago, this ensemble has no conductor; its 12 members include six violins, two violas, two cellos, one double bass, and one harpsichord.

On May 21, Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici, the principal violinist of the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra, will lead the Stradivari Ensemble to Shanghai. They will use centuries-old master violins from the 17th and 18th centuries to perform Tchaikovsky's string classics and Piazzolla's soulful rhythms.

The Shanghai Oriental Art Center's "Future Master" series features Trio Hermes and the Paganini Ensemble Vienna on May 22 and 23. Many music professionals are excited for this chamber music series.

Violinist Wang Zhijiong said chamber music represents equality, restraint, trust, and symbiosis. "Chamber music teaches participants to listen to others and understand the proportions of their expressions. It allows us to experience wise relationships between people," she said.

Yang Danhe, a teacher at the Music Education Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, believes chamber music is suited for "discerning" audiences.

"The acoustic balance between high, middle, and low instruments, and the restrained yet refined dialogue among the parts, all establish chamber music as a premium genre within classical music," she said.
