Sleep Dealer to Perform at Mao Livehouse
The post-rock band Sleep Dealer will be performing live at the Mao Livehouse on April 24.
Russian musician Vadim started Sleep Dealer in Moscow in 2009 and has described this project as a deeply personal endeavor. Starting off as a single-person project, Vadim did all the production work for Sleep Dealer by himself: from the guitar, bass, keyboard, to the sampling and drum machine programming. This allowed for a personal and unique artistic flavor, creating a distinct set of sounds associated with Sleep Dealer.
Known for their minimalistic arrangements, Sleep Dealer often start their music with just a single keyboard note, before a gradual layering of subtle drumbeats that induces an empty and cold, yet emotional and cinematic atmosphere.
Sleep Dealer's repetitive structure seems to depict the loneliness of a vast land, perhaps not unlike Vadim's home country, Russia, and maybe a hint of Vadim's thoughts of the unlimited possibilities of the dreams in our sleep.
Many fans take solace in Sleep Dealer's consistent and familiar style; their unique performance and sound effects in their tour in China in 2023 have also earned praises from many local fans.
