The Barricade Boys to Make China Debut in Shanghai
The Barricade Boys, a male vocal group from London's West End, will make their China debut in Shanghai, staging four concerts at the AIA Grand Theater in June.
Comprising four singers – Scott Garnham, Simon Schofield, Craig Mather, and George Tebbut – honed in the classic musical "Les Misérables," the ensemble brings a crossover blend of beloved musical theater numbers with elements of pop, rock, and free-spirited swing music.
Last year, tickets for the concert version of the musical "Les Misérables" in Shanghai were extremely hard to come by, a testament to how much this classic work means to audiences. At the AIA Grand Theater, the Barricade Boys will recreate classic songs including "I Dreamed a Dream," "Look Down," "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," "Bring Him Home," "Stars," and "One Day More."
Other songs to be performed on stage also come from classic Western musicals: "Wicked," "Mamma Mia!," "Jersey Boys," "West Side Story," among others, as well as a British rock medley featuring rock classics by The Beatles and Queen.
The concert's stage design, sound, and visual presentation will all be on par with the original West End production, while the harmonic layering of the quartet will breathe new life into these familiar melodies.
The Barricade Boys was founded in 2015 by Scott Garnham and Simon Schofield. Beyond the music, the group has the habit of sharing humorous and heartfelt stories from their careers during the concert to create an intimate theater environment for the audiences.
