Dance drama "The Peony Pavilion"
"The Peony Pavilion" has seen numerous renditions in traditional Chinese opera. This time, the classical romance created by Tang Xianzu will be revitalized through the language of modern dance.
The dance drama "Du Fu," jointly directed by renowned directors Han Zhen and Zhou Liya, will also be a highly anticipated production for dance enthusiasts. It will be staged at the theater on March 14 and 15, portraying the great poet's tireless pursuit of ideals and his passionate advocacy for the people.
The music concerts of the new season are imbued with a festive atmosphere.
On December 20, a Shanghai New Year Children's Symphony Concert will blend traditional Chinese music with Western classical tunes. A New Year's Concert on December 31 will accompany the audiences in ringing in 2026 with classical melodies from East and West. Both are presented by Shanghai Zhiyin Orchestra.
There are also musicals and plays tailored for children, as well as farce, circus, crosstalk and traditional opera performances.
